Privacy Policy

Introduction
At Sleep Hacker, we respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle, where it's stored, and how it's used. Most of what you enter in Sleep Hacker — on the app or the website — stays on your device or browser. A few specific features — resetting your password and posting to the community forum — send limited information to our servers to work, described below.
Stored Only On Your Device
The information below is stored locally — in Apple's iOS Keychain (via secure app preferences) on the app, or in your browser's local storage on the website — and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Account information you provide at sign-up (name, email address)
- Your account password, which is never stored in plain text — only a one-way cryptographic hash is saved locally to verify future sign-ins
- Dream journal entries and sleep tracking data you enter
- Sleep recordings captured by the app's overnight sleep recording feature
- Sleep schedule and notification preferences
- App and site preferences and settings
Because this data lives only on your device or browser, uninstalling the app, clearing your browser data, or using the "Delete Account" option in Settings permanently removes it — there is no copy stored anywhere else for us to retain or delete.
Sent To Our Servers
Two features send information to servers we operate, shared between the app and this website, rather than staying only on your device or browser:
- Password reset. If you use "Forgot password," the email address you enter is sent to our server so we can email you a one-time verification code through Resend, a transactional email provider. The code and email address are deleted from our server once used or after 15 minutes, whichever comes first. We don't retain a record of your reset requests beyond that window.
- Community forum. If you post or reply in the forum, your display name, email address, and the post content are sent to and stored on our server so the discussion can be shared between the app and the website. Your display name and post content are visible to other users; your email address is stored but never shown publicly.
Subscriptions & Purchases
Subscriptions and in-app purchases (including physical supplement orders) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store's in-app purchase system. Sleep Hacker never sees or stores your payment card details — Apple handles billing, and your purchase is governed by Apple's own privacy practices. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles purchase information.
Data Security
Your authentication credentials and session data are stored locally, and your password is never stored in plain text. Since most of your data stays on your device or browser, its security also depends on that device or browser — we recommend using a passcode and Face ID/Touch ID on your device. The limited information that does reach our servers (see "Sent To Our Servers" above) is transmitted over encrypted connections.
Children's Privacy
Sleep Hacker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
